YOU
Our bodies and psyche have an innate ability to heal given the right environment, but many of us in the Western world have been separated from -- our nature; the natural world and our natural way of being in the world. This separation leaves us out of touch with nourishment and our natural ability to heal, move through processes, experience the fullness of life (ourselves), and engage in the world in a way we deeply desire. This separation of nature -- of ourself -- is at the heart of unresolved trauma -- unprocessed, unintegrated experiences -- keeping us from the flow of life and our most authentic self.

Trauma is a big word that gets thrown around a lot these days. Gabor Mate says it beautifully when he says, "trauma is not what happens to you, but what happens inside you in response to what happens to you." Ten people could experience the same tragic event, but not everyone would necessarily be traumatized. Experiencing shock, terror, grief, overwhelm, numbness (the list could go on), is part of the human experience, just as much as is experiencing joy, gratitude, ease, eroticism, playfulness (the list could go on). I am not saying abuse or violence on any level is normal, justified, or just part of being human. What I am saying is that being human comes with both painful and pleasurable experiences, and we each have a body, nervous system, and psyche that knows exactly how to be with, process, and integrate those experiences when working in harmony together and with oneself.

Healing isn't about fixing what happened or arriving in some place our pain doesn't exist. It's about coming into a compassionate relationship with ourself and allowing life and our personal unique life energy to flow through us. As we heal, we learn how to feel with compassion what we previously could not, and we transform in the present becoming more of who we yearn to be.

This journey, the journey of the soul, the journey we are all on, is a sacred journey. My deepest desire and intention is to be an ally for all who are walking their path and to support those who I am able. I bring to the table a variety of trainings from the world of somatics and spirituality, but what I mostly bring is my own experience of coming home to myself and becoming a soulful human.
